Sara Hussain, Brand Strategist and Founder of Budwell

Meet Sara Hussain

Sara Hussain is a brand strategist based in the Midwest. Her unconventional career path has spanned from legislating on Capitol Hill to shooting commercials in Venice Beach. Along the way, she has worked for the ACLU, launched her own smokeware brand, and recorded an album with a Grammy-nominated producer.

After the economy cratered in 2008, Sara found herself among a surplus of lawyers in DC. She pivoted her legal training toward creating strategic communications for brands. Since then, she has served many industries, including hospitality, entertainment, tourism, finance, health, tech, beauty, wellness, cannabis, music, and more.

Sara has been working in branding, marketing, advertising, and design for fifteen years, within agencies, and at the helm of her own practice. She recently won a Clio award for an integrated campaign on which she served as creative director and copywriter.

In 2018, Sara became a full-time freelance consultant to make brand strategy accessible to those seeking an alternative from the traditional agency model.

More About Sara

She holds degrees in Political Science and International Relations from Ohio University (Athens, OH), and a Juris Doctorate from the University of the District of Columbia, David A. Clarke School of Law (Washington, DC). Sara lives outside of Cincinnati with her family, where she has amassed an excessive amount of outerwear and growing collection of weird lamps.
